Does it not dawn on the cart witnesses?

i sat in town recently, right in the window of a nice wee pub.

within minutes i realised that i had a perfect view of a jw cart and the two ridiculously dressed jw's (they have absolutely no individuality at all.

what's more, they all look like they're going to a funeral).

Appearances. It's all about appearances, but to a spiritual end.

I loved to quote from the WT at meetings. There was a study article years ago that made the point that otherwise unreceptive people will remember what they heard us say, but at Jehovah's appointed time. They would finally get the meaning of our message. Alas! It would be too late.

If I had to work alone in service -- and didn't want to talk to anybody -- I would walk up and down the streets in town, dressed in full-Witness garb. Passersby would know that a prophet was in their midst. Perhaps, Jehovah would unseal my reluctant lips, and I would share the message of salvation with a searching-for-the-truth pedestrian.

Yes, that was me . . .

Why is it so hurtful to be shunned? Why object to it?

it seems like many feel hurt or saddened by the practice of shunning by witnesses.. yes, when ones who we were close to, perhaps family or ones we thought were close friends choose to follow the warped directions of the society, it may seem hurtful.. but really, our reaction is up to us.

the fact is, these ones have shown that in reality, their love for us was never real or genuine.

no, those relationships were superficial and lacking in substance.

I appreciate your thoughts, stuckinarut2. They, as well as those expressed by other posters, have helped me.

In my own attempt to deal with shunning, I try to be objective and not allow emotion to put everyone who appears to be shunning me into the same basket. Most individuals are busy with their lives -- or maybe a bit negligent about staying in touch -- and have given no thought whatsoever to a deliberate shun. Maybe some think I'm shunning them . . .

Even here on the forum, not everyone is our friend or reads our posts. Some people do like us but just don't get around to talking to us. One of my dearest friends simply doesn't write or phone or do social media. He's not shunning me. When we meet, one-on-one, we get caught up.

Took a while, but my skin is thicker. I know who my real friends are.

The Sea

the sea once held this youngster's heart within its mighty bosom.i loved and cherished the sea, stretching outward beyond infinity.

i took to the e'er dreary landscape, the dank surroundings soothing me, enveloping me in crawling mists that were more welcomed to me than the evaporating rays of a cavorting summer sun.i, however, am no longer that pensive lad who found comfort in the dark and cold and deep blue sea.

today, a man in the physical sense, i no longer possess that childlike fascination with my former abode.

I'm sorry that your aunt has died. I was close to several of my aunts, including great aunts.

On Facebook, my JWs -- bless their hearts -- rarely have an original thought. Invariably, they post a ready-made JW.ORG sermon and image.

Do they count their time???

i just saw the documentary 'holy hell' on cnn, about a cult called buddhafield.

it was a small group but has existed since the 80s and still has a few followers.

classic cult stuff, much of which i found eerily familiar.

Jehovah`s Witnesses Boasted They have No Clergy Laity Class ?

well that`s what was impressed on me to differentiate between the true religion and false religion , when i was converted in 1960 , do they still claim that ?

believing that they still do , i will say this.. what about ,:the governing body who definitely are set apart from the rank and file for their attitude towards the r&f , but also from the attitude of the r&f towards the governing body members.many do seem to idolise gb members by their actions , and the gb members dont seem to discourage that.. and not only for their attitude , how about their life-style , being housed in bethel with all the mod -cons of modern civilization as opposed to a r&f member living in a third world country .does the wt society do anything to make their lifestyle improve ?
